About Sunday School

Sunday School is held at the same time as the Sunday Service (11am-noon) for pupils up to the age of 20. Each class is taught by experienced Christian Scientists who teach the Scriptures. Children and young people are encouraged to learn more about God, and how to put the spiritual laws found in the Bible into practice in their everyday lives.

This website outlines the activities of the church and will give you an idea of what to expect when you visit.

Christian healing is the core purpose of all the activities of our Church.

The children are taught according to our Church Manual (p 62) by Mary Baker Eddy, as follows:

First Lessons

The first lessons of the children should be the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:3-17), the Lord's Prayer (Matt. 6:9-13), and its Spiritual Interpretation by Mary Baker Eddy, Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5:3-12).

Next Lessons

The next lessons consist of such questions and answers as are adapted to a juvenile class, and may be found in the Christian Science Quarterly Lessons, read in Church services.
The instruction given by the children's teachers must not deviate from the absolute Christian Science contained in their textbook.

Experiences of Sunday School

Sunday School is an amazing opportunity for all children and young adults. It provides a peaceful space where you can think through life’s big issues and learn more about Christian Science ideas and how healing is possible. Sunday School helped me deal with a difficult relationship in my late teens, gave me a space to find out about how to heal physical problems through prayer as Jesus did and introduced me to the Scriptures and Christian Science textbook Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Even though Sunday School ended when I was 20, I went on learning, completing Christian Science Class Instruction, attending church services and using Christian Science in my life which is called Christian Science practice.
